SouthWind loves to do nice things for the community – kindness is our focus. In November we had an exciting opportunity to touch the community with love and kindness.
SouthWind's 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Basket Brigade was not an original idea, but it is was good idea. It was a way for us to share love and kindness in a practical way – not with words but with deeds.
Here's how it worked: individuals and families put together gift baskets for Thanksgiving. These baskets were typically laundry baskets (they can be reused!) that were filled with enough food and fixings for a family for Thanksgiving. A gift certificate for a turkey made the meal complete. These baskets were then delivered to deserving families.
We were not alone in this act of Kindness. Throughout the Thanksgiving and holiday season, in over 200 cities across North America, Australia, Canada, England, and Singapore, International Basket Brigade volunteers are delivering food and hope to those who need it most. Hundreds of thousands of hungry and needy individuals are fed by this incredible effort of people like you! This year SouthWind delivered nearly 40 baskets in South Lake County and around Central Florida!
Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine,
you did for me.
