QuestionsThank you for digging a little deeper to get your question answered. Please feel free to Contact SouthWind if you would like to talk more...we would love to meet you!

Are you a church?

Yes.  We get asked this question often because we don’t look like most churches.  More than 80% of the people in Clermont don’t like church (if they did, they would attend), so we have created a church that is dramatically different for those people.

Where do you meet?

All over.  This is on purpose.  In order to be open and accessible for those who don’t like church, naturally we don’t meet in a traditional church setting.  Our Sunday gatherings are at Buffalos Southwest Cafe, but we also often meet at parks, homes, restaurants, etc – “the church has left the building”.  The Bible says that Jesus spent his time “among the people”.  So do we.  Check out the Upcoming Events for a list of where we are gathering next.

Why do church so unconventionally?  What's wrong with the traditional church?

Absolutely nothing is wrong with traditional churches.  People need to worship in places that meet their needs and speak their language.  We have discovered, however, that the traditional church doesn’t meet the needs of many in our generation.

How will I grow in my faith?

Actually, we have many different kinds of ways such as the weekly SouthWind Services.  Also, small groups of people get together in Life Groups, and we regularly get together in a recreational, picnic style setting called Common Ground.

Why are you giving away free stuff?

Simple answer...we want to show God’s love in practical ways.  We are determined that kindness is the most effective way to share His love.  Through organized group kindness events and through individual random acts of kindness – we are passionate about “paying forward” the incredible love of God.

In an attempt to be new and relevant, do you ever water-down the Bible?

No way, God's Word is our final authority.  It's just that so many people in our generation have a tough time understanding Scripture and seeing that it really has practical meaning for their lives. We never ignore truth because we want people to like us, but we will package truth within the language of our culture. That's why we believe so strongly that truth should be communicated differently and more than just for an hour on Sunday.

What denomination are you?

We're not part of any.  We're just a group of people committed to being the church as described in the Bible.  We are part of the Willow Creek Association, a group of like-minded churches that are committed to being relevant in today's culture. If you would like to know what we believe, check out our What SouthWind Believes page.   And another thing, we love to work with other churches and with community organizations such as Special Olympics, the YMCA, the South Lake Foundation, the American Heart Association, and the American Cancer Society.  You'll see us partnering with others to cause good things to happen in our community.
