Heart Walk

On Saturday, October 3rd 2009, SouthWind Ministries will be part of this year’s American Heart Association's Heart Walk. In keeping with our vision to be an integral part of serving our community, SouthWind will be represented again this year at this annual Central Florida charity event. As the signature fund-raising event for the American Heart Association, the Heart Walk promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a fun family environment. This year over 1,000,000 walkers will participate in more than 600 events across the country, raising funds to save lives from this country’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers, heart disease and stroke. In the 2008 Orlando Heart Walk, there were an estimated 6000 walkers.

SouthWind's Pastor Larry Poe is a recent heart survivor. The by-pass surgery performed on him was originally researched and funded by the AHA.

Corporations and organizations (like SouthWind) encourage their employees and members to take steps toward heart-healthy lifestyles while raising funds to fight heart disease and stroke in our community.
